Isla Porter Practice Nurse
Gender: Female
About me:
I have worked at the Red Practice for over 4 years. I have worked in the NHS for 16 and a half years.
I have a Diploma in Asthma, Diabetes and nursing.
My role as a Practice nurse is different things. I do immunisations and injections for all age groups including babies. I do asthma and diabetic reviews and some health checks. I do wound dressings and checks, removal of stiches and clips. I do smears. I also do travel consultations and travel vaccines.
I enjoy my role because I am not doing the same thing all of the time, I get to see patients from birth to old age. I get to know the patients that come to the practice regularly. No day is the same. I enjoy working with the different members of the Red Practice team from the admin staff, receptionists to the Doctors and HCAs. Everybody is friendly and professional.
My background is I qualified in 2010 as a Nurse, Then went to work in the medical assessment Unit at the royal Surrey in Guildford, I stayed at the Royal Surrey and went onto work in the intensive care unit. After having my first child I went onto work more locally at Sunbury Health centre and did all my training to be a Practice Nurse, I then joined the red Practice in 2022.
In my spare time I like to go to gym classes, swimming, play Tennis with my boys. Socialise with friends and family. Fun fact is I am a qualified Beauty Therapist.
